Poultry litter (PL) is an organic matter source used as soil amendment. Besides its important nutrient content, it is a cheap alternative to conventional fertilizers in crop production. The efficient use of PL also helps reduce the environmental problems normally associated with its disposal near poultry production farms. This article reports the relative effects of PL and conventional fertilizers on the availability of soil N, P and K, dry matter (DM) production and total nutrient content in silage corn (Zea mays L.). Long-term crop rotation systems can benefit soil chemical-physical properties and crop productivity. Con el objetivo de evaluar y seleccionar cubiertas vegetales como cultivos entre hileras, para mejorar el manejo del suelo en un viñedo (Vitis vinifera L.) cv. La disponibilidad de cama de broiler (CB), mezcla de estiércol de broiler sobre viruta, ha aumentado sostenidamente debido a la mayor producción de carne de ave. El uso de este producto como fertilizante disminuye la contaminación desde zonas de acumulación y a la vez mejora la fertilidad de los suelos. EFECTO DE LA NUTRICIÓN MINERAL SOBRE LA PRODUCCIÓN DE CULÉN (Otholobium glandulosum (L.) Grimes) Agricultura Técnica

El culén (Otholobium glandulosum (L.) Grimes) es una planta medicinal que ha adquirido gran importancia en los últimos años por su contenido de psolareno. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo generar antecedentes sobre la fertilización de este cultivo. Para tal efecto, se realizó un experimento en macetas con plantas de 2 años, sobre dos substratos de crecimiento, arena de río y suelo trumao (Serie Santa Bárbara, Hashy, mesic typic haploxerands). El ensayo contó con nueve tratamientos de fertilización y cuatro repeticiones en cada substrato. Nutritional management in rice (Oryza sativa L.) crops is mainly associated with N fertilization, which is difficult to adjust in field conditions due to variations in soil type and climatic conditions. Between 28 000 and 46 000 ha per year is dedicated to rice production in Chile and profits depend on fertilization. Resumen El riego deficitario controlado (RDC) es una estrategia de manejo donde se aplica agua según las etapas fenológicas del cultivo. Como consecuencia, condiciones diferentes del manejo del riego pueden producir cambios importantes en la producción, calidad de la fruta y una disminución del volumen de agua utilizado. El objetivo de esta investigación fue evaluar el efecto de RDC en la producción y calidad del kiwi (Actinidia deliciosa) Hayward, en Chile. Nitrogen Mineralization and Released Nutrients in a Volcanic Soil Amended with Poultry Litter Chilean J. Agric. Res.

Optimum application rates of poultry litter (PL) spread out on the farmer´s field is a valuable source of available plant nutrients. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of two rates of PL and conventional fertilization (CF) on N mineralization and P, K, Zn, and Cu availability in an Andisol from Southern Chile under controlled conditions. Aerobic incubation was carried out for a 16-wk period. N mineralization rates were higher (61.5%) with the two PL treatments than with conventional fertilizer (23%). CF was associated with high N availability prior to the start of incubation and slight immobilization during the first week, perhaps due to a more rapid conversion of urea into NH4 which was then temporarily immobilized by the microbial biomass....
